Morning departure from Split (or Zagreb), you’ll be picked up at the place of your accommodation. Together with our driver-guide Split to Zagreb have an introduction to the history of the area and about the itinerary for the day. After 2 hours of scenic drive, we arrive in the Plitvice park. Plitvice are the world’s natural heritage that is on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979. Inside the park, we will walk along the majestic string of sixteen cascaded lakes connected with beautiful waterfalls. The tour of the National Park will take approximately 3 hours with hiking along both upper and lower lakes, a boat ride over the big lake and a train ride through park area at the end. Don’t miss to see “Veliki Slap”, the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park, 78 meters high.
After time exploring the park, we continue our trip towards Zagreb. Another half an hour drive we arrive at Rastoke. Idyllic watermill village, it is often referred to as “the Small Lakes of Plitvice”. The village found its place at the foot of the 19th century Napoleon’s army Magazine (storage). The area of Rastoke was the eastern border part of Napoleon’s Empire. After a shortstop and time for coffee, we have a time for lunch in a local restaurant.
Finally, you are going to enjoy a “traditional lunch” in one of the local restaurants. You will enjoy the stunning countryside landscape and local homemade folk-cuisine specialties together with excellent local wines. Serving domestic cheese, homemade olive oil, Prosciutto, Pancetta, Mediterranean salami, spicy salami, prosciutto pate, hard cow cheese, pork loin, baked potatoes and the most delicious bread.
