After 2 hours of the scenic drive, we arrive at Plitvice park. The park was established in 1949 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. We will walk along the majestic string of sixteen cascaded lakes connected with beautiful waterfalls inside the park. Don’t miss seeing “Veliki Slap”, the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park, 78 meters high.
After time exploring the park, we continue our trip toward Zagreb. Another half an hour drive, we arrive at Rastoke. Idyllic watermill village is often called “the Small Lakes of Plitvice”. The village found its place at the foot of the 19th-century Napoleon’s army Magazine (storage). The area of Rastoke was the eastern border part of Napoleon’s Empire. After a short stop and time for coffee, we have time for lunch in a local restaurant.
Additionally (at your own expense), you can enjoy a “traditional lunch” in one of the local restaurants in Rastoke. You will enjoy the stunning countryside landscape, local homemade folk-cuisine specialties, and excellent local wines. Serving domestic cheese, prosciutto, pancetta, hard cow cheese, baked potatoes, and the most delicious bread. What else to look for?
