Departure from Split is scheduled at 8.30 am a ferry from the Split Harbor, Pick up at the place of your accommodation at 7.30 am. Arriving at the Island of Hvar at 10.15 are we start our Panoramic drive towards Hvar town. At the island, we visit the Lavender fields around the village of Brusje, high up on the old road to Stari Grad. This village has stunning views of the seas and mainland. We walk through Lavender fields, appreciate the magnificent color and breathe in the hypnotic qualities. In the morning You will have a tour of the old Town of Hvar; the oldest municipal theatre in Europe (established in 1612), the arsenal and the Franciscan monastery, the fortress Fortica, the Cathedral of Hvar. Our program continues as we meet the leading Croatian winemaker ”Duboković” to taste wines that have become the most sought after in the country. You will be invited to step into the family house and winery as well, meet owner and listen stories from firsthand wine maker. The Plavac grapes Medvid and Medvjedica come from there. All the wines are fermented with natural yeast. Depending on the type of wine, they combine stainless steel and woods of various ages. Every vintage is different, and so the wines from different vintages require a different approach. Although it’s a small winery, with an annual production of 15,000 to 20,000 litres, they produce a very wide range. The original names of the wines hide interesting tales. Moja M [ My M] (Maraština), Moja B [My B] (Bogdanjuša), Moj Otok [My Island] (Maraština, Bogdanjuša, Parč and Kuč), N11 Rose (Plavac Mali), Laganini (Drnekuša), and the Plavaces 2718 sati sunca u boci [2718 hours of Sun in a Bottle], Prije 6009 godina [6009 Years Ago], Medvjedica and Medvid and the dessert wines Prvi poljubac [First Kiss] (Maraština, Bogdanjuša, Parč and Kuć) and Don Petar (Plavac). In a range as broad as this, so everyone can find what they like best, and since all the wines are table wines – the name of the wine tells a story. Apart from the wines, they produce a wide range of varietal and aromatised olive oils. This trip ends with an authentic island culinary picnic at the picturesque village of Vrisnik. Your meal will be prepared in a traditional island way, and served by the island’s best olive oil producer Mr. Borivoj Bojanic and his wife Zeljka. The return is scheduled at 17:30 am by a ferry to the mainland – to the city of Split.
