Your journey begins with meeting your driver at the given hotel or private accommodation address in Zagreb. Together with our private driver from Zagreb to Zadar have an introduction to the history of the area and about the itinerary for the day. After 1 hour of drive, we arrive at Rastoke. Idyllic watermill village is often referred to as “the Small Lakes of Plitvice”. The village found its place at the foot of the 19th century Napoleon’s army Magazine (storage). The area of Rastoke was the eastern border part of Napoleon’s Empire. After a short stop and time for coffee, we continue to Plitvice.
Arriving in Plitvice Lakes, your driver will be leaving you at the entrance of the park where you will be meeting your local guide (if you choose to have one), and your 3-4 hour adventure starts from there. Indeed, Plitvice Lakes are the world’s natural heritage that is on the UNESCO List since 1979. Inside the park, we will walk along the majestic string of sixteen cascaded lakes connected with beautiful waterfalls. The tour of the park will take approximately 4 hours. Will include hiking along both upper and lower lakes, a boat ride over the big lake, and train ride through the park area at the end. Don’t miss seeing “Veliki Slap”, the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park, 78 meters high.
Additionally (at your own expense), you can enjoy a “traditional lunch” in one of the local restaurants in Rastoke. You will enjoy the stunning countryside landscape and local homemade folk-cuisine specialties together with excellent local wines. Serving domestic cheese, prosciutto, pancetta, hard cow cheese, baked potatoes, and the most delicious bread. What else to look for? Following lunch, we are continuing the trip towards Zadar and are expected to arrive in Zadar at 5.00 pm.
