Morning departure from Split (or Dubrovnik). Together with driver-guide Split to Dubrovnik start your drive towards Bosnia & Herzegovina’s country. Our first destination for a day is a city Mostar, where the culture of East meets the West. A city of stone, historical, political and cultural center of Hercegovina. The place of mixed cultures and historical sites. Mostar is the city of contrasts, wide roads, narrow streets, the traditional “Kujundziluk” (old bazaar). The world-famous Stari Most (Old Bridge) is the Mostar’s indisputable visual focus. The bridge’s swooping stone arch was originally built between 1557 and 1566. By the orders of Suleyman, the Magnificent and has been entered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
After the time in Mostar, we are going to have lunch in one of the local restaurants. You will try traditional Bosnian cuisine. After lunch, we are continuing the trip towards Dubrovnik. Our next stop will be in the Medieval town of Ston. It is famous for the longest stone wall in Europe (5.5 km), salt cultivation farming and oyster growing farms, since Roman times. Ston oysters are natural aphrodisiac and made this region world-famous. The city walls with 5km in length, are the longest defensive structure in Europe. They are sometimes referred to as the “European Walls of China”. Built-in the 14th and 15th centuries as extra defense for the Republic of Ragusa (Dubrovnik) to protect the salt pans in the area. Following extensive renovations, the walls were open to visitors.
After time in Ston, we have the option to visit one of the local wine cellars in the area. Driving across the Pelješac peninsula, we’ll discover one of the most famous Croatian wine-growing regions. Sandy soil and a maximum of sunlight are creating a primary condition for some of the top-quality Croatian red wines. We will have the opportunity to visit one of the family wineries and try some of the best wines in the region. Refreshed after local winery experience we are ending this day in Dubrovnik (or Split) and expected to arrive in Dubrovnik (or Split) at 6.00 pm.
